TARA ITI
ECOLOGICAL SANCTUARY
The Tara Iti Ecological Sanctuary plans to protect and enhance the sites current indigenous flora, fauna and ecosystems, in a manner which encourages and allows for the recolonisation and reintroduction of species which have been lost to the area.
The project spans the Te Ārai North Precinct and aims to achieve nationally significant conservation gains within a multi-use landscape, whilst promoting education and advocacy on conserving New Zealand’s indigenous species.
